Living and working on the south coast we’re blessed with easy access to the legendary Goodwood Motor Circuit and when news of a track day came through from Porsche Club GB, we felt it would be rude if we didn’t pop along to check it out.
What must have been a few million quid’s worth of Stuttgart’s finest lay before our eyes. RSs, GT3s, Club Sports, Turbos and even a Singer giving it stick out on the track.
On The Track
In equal balance though and integrated seamlessly with their special edition siblings, were the more affordable sports cars such as the Boxster, Cayman and 911’s. As with anything Goodwood hosts, it’s a slick operation and in partnership with the Porsche Owners Club it was clearly an event for ‘grown ups’ – these guys know how to have fun!
Sessions of ten or so cars take to the track at any one time, allowing drivers and passengers of the other vehicles waiting in the paddock or pit lane the chance to cool their engines, exchange stories and racing tips.
Close to the action
Spectator opportunities at Goodwood surpass most other race circuits. Open access to viewing areas above the pit lane offers spectacular views. You can get up close to the action.
You’re local and want to check out the next one? Then pop Wednesday 4th July in your diary. As a Porsche owner looking for a group of enthusiasts to meet up and go driving with, find out more about membership here.
If you were driving at this event and would like free, images of you and your car in action, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
We’re looking forward to the next one already… maybe we should ‘join in properly’ this time!
