Saturday, the 16th of June – Brands Hatch circuit, Kent. 9am on a warm sunny morning, saw the first people arriving for the ‘Heritage Take Over’ event. This was open to the drivers of any and all kinds of German cars, as part of ‘Deutsche Fest’.
Heritages special parade laps.
This historic circuit in Kent has been in use as a motor racing venue since 1950 – it’s seen many famous racing drivers and also hosted the British Grand Prix until 1986. So what better place to test yourself and your car against your friends, or the clock, than by booking a bit of track time? Many participants chose to do just that, with a steady stream of track sessions taking place throughout the day, only interrupted by Heritages special parade laps, celebrating 30 years of the VW Corrado. It certainly made for an unusual sight, to see these increasingly rare cars together in one place.
Away from the track there were plenty of show worthy cars to look at, some great tunes, provided by ‘Slippers the Split’ and the two DJs as well as goody bags being given away.
During the afternoon, our CEO Barney announced our choices for the top show cars, whose lucky owners all received not only a trophy, but an Autofinesse cleaning kit. In addition, the winners of best aircooled and best watercooled cars were rewarded with a GTi watch, in collaboration with the VW Classic Cup race series.
Thanks to everyone who joined us this weekend at the circuit.
We had a great time and hope you did too!
