Sunday 27th January was the first ever Volksworld Spares Day, held at the South of England showground in Ardingly. As the main sponsor, we wanted to do something a little different from our usual show stand to really get things off to a good start.

Bargain Hunt

In recent years we’ve stepped away from taking lots of air cooled VW parts to shows, but for this ‘bargain hunt’ spares event, we chose to clear our shelves of any seconds or slightly damaged parts and took them all along to sell.

Cheap like the budgie

It was a move that was warmly welcomed, despite close to freezing temperatures. Whilst most of these parts were already available through our eBay shop, show-goers could benefit from checking out the parts up close, before handing over a fraction of the normal retail price.

Sales Manager Nick and our Aircooled Specialist George were on hand all day, chatting to customers about their projects and sharing a personal experience to help enthusiasts save a few pounds by purchasing the ‘scratch and dent’ parts we had on offer.

Rusty Gold

Elsewhere in the show, there was a range of new parts from other retailers and manufacturers, and a barn full of ‘rusty gold’ – second hand and NOS VW parts for those searching for something a little more elusive.

Just Chilling in the Sun

Outside in the sunshine, it was still bitterly cold but nice to see a display of air and water cooled vehicles who weren’t put off by a spot of road salt and ice scraping.

Time for VW-T

A selection of slammed nu-wave vans could be found inside.

Chilly Campers

There were even some crazy campers who stayed over the night before – our very own Andy Headings included!

Undercover dubbers

‘Indoors’ there were a few more cars on display, including the ’65 Sea Blue Beetle belonging to Heritage team member Dave, and Heretics regulars Kate and Jack who had brought Rupert their Wedding Bus along to show off too.

We hope this is the start of a great new show, and potentially the South’s answer to the popular DubFreeze event held in February.

See you at the next one.
