Whilst many of our team make a point of attending the Festival of Speed every year, 2019 was extra special as our 1956 Splitscreen Single Cab was on display too.
Style et Luxe
As part of the Cartier ‘Tea for Two’ collection, our pick up truck was joined by a Double Cab, a Samba, an ex-Canadian post truck, a Bay microbus and an early Bay Westfalia conversion. Amazingly amongst such esteemed company, it was selected as the judges favourite and awarded ‘Best in Class’. Sadly we missed the prize giving, but we’re over the moon they loved it that much.
Whilst as VW nuts, we could have filled the whole lawn with variations of the Volkswagen truck, the shortlisted selection seemed to be a hit with the general public and more than enough to warrant plenty of photographs.
It was great to catch up with Dave Vardy and the Rheila Golf team on Thursday. Our morning started by meeting them at a ‘secret entrance’ to deliver some parts, before hitching a ride on their ‘golf buggy’ to check out the car up close. They had an eventful weekend which culminated in being awarded the ‘Spirit of the Rally’ outside the House on Sunday afternoon.
We even got to see it in action, before pro-driver George collided with the scenery!
Audi Quattro and more!
Whilst up at the Rally Stage we had to take a wander around the other machines competitng over the weeekend.
The future of Volkswagen
Set over 4 storeys Volkswagen created a fun and interactive showroom to display their concepts for the next few years.
Fresh from smashing records at the Nurburgring Nordschleife was the Volkswagen ID race car; it also won the hill climb shoot out too.
If you have a soft spot for historic Porsche race cars, this was heaven.

So much to see…
This event is massive. Even if you spent 3 days here you’d still miss stuff! What a great weekend of fun and games, thank you so much to Goodwood for having us.
